Roadmap

Day 0
The Adventure Starts

At the scheduled time, the riders will be picked up and taken to the hotel in Madrid. Afterward, there will be a briefing, and then return to the hotel to rest and recharge for the next day.

Day 1
From the Capital to the Golden City

Your journey begins leaving the vibrant capital behind to take the quiet roads to Salamanca. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of the Sierra de Avila, with its majestic mountains and picturesque villages. Arriving in Salamanca, a university city with an impressive historical heritage, you can stroll around its famous Plaza Mayor and enjoy a plate of Iberian ham with a good local wine.

Day 2
Crossing to Portugal: The Beginning of the N2 Route

Leaving Spain behind, the route will take you towards the Portuguese border, where the town of Chaves marks the start of the famous N2 Route. Chaves, known for the hottest thermal springs on the Iberian Peninsula and for a Roman bridge that has carried travelers for nearly two thousand years. Don't forget to get your ‘N2 passport’ to stamp at each stage of this legendary route.

Day 3
Vineyard Landscapes and Historic Culture

The road dives south through the hills and vineyards of Vila Real and Lamego, on the doorstep of the Douro valley: endless curves, river canyons and lots of viewpoints. Coimbra, your destination for the day, is crowned by one of the oldest universities in Europe and for being the home of the fado de Coimbra.

Day 4
Through the Heart of Portugal

The N2 runs straight and rolling through it, an invitation to ease back and breathe. Your destination is Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where two thousand years of history sit within the old walls: a remarkably intact Roman temple, a fortress-like medieval cathedral, and a tangle of lanes that reward slow wandering. Everything combined with a vibrant culinary scene.

Day 5
Down to Algarve

The final leg of the N2 Route takes you to Faro in the Algarve, known for a walled old town, storks circling its cathedral, and the shimmering lagoons of the Ria Formosa at its doorstep. The N2 reaches its end, more than 450 miles from where you began in Chaves. There's a real sense of achievement in arriving here: a passport full of stamps, an entire country crossed end to end.

Day 6
Back to Medieval Spain

Today you will recross the border into one of Spain's least-known treasures: Extremadura. The stop is in Cáceres, a medieval city that looks like something out of a fairytale, a maze of palaces, towers, and cobbled squares. Explore its historic centre and taste the legendary torta del Casar.

Day 7
Farewell in Sierra de Gredos

The final day keeps the best riding for the farewell. Leaving Caceres you will come back to Madrid through the stunning Sierra de Gredos, a biker's paradise thanks to its curvy roads and panoramic views that open over pine forest and glacial valleys, with peaks rising above 8,000 feet. This is a road to savor slowly, letting the rhythm of the bends become a kind of reflection on everything the journey has held.

N2 De Portugal

Experience the ultimate motorbike adventure on Portugal's legendary N2 Route, known as the ‘Portuguese Route 66’. This 8-day, 7-night self-guided trip, connecting Madrid with Portugal, will take you on roads through the heart of Portugal from north to south, offering an authentic and unforgettable experience. This epic journey, which traverses the entire country from north to south, offers a perfect combination of thrilling driving, breathtaking scenery and unforgettable cultural experiences. From the Roman bridges of Chaves to the golden beaches of Faro, every kilometre reveals Portugal's authenticity, picturesque villages and rich gastronomy.

The N2 Route is much more than just a motorbike ride: it is a journey that allows you to savour the purest essence of Portugal. Each stop, in picturesque villages and cities full of history, is an opportunity to connect with the authenticity of the country and enjoy its exquisite gastronomy, from the bacalao a bras in Coimbra to the fresh seafood of the Algarve. In addition, this unique route invites you to immortalise your adventure by purchasing the N2 Passport in Chaves. With each village you visit, you can stamp it as an unforgettable souvenir of your journey.

The journey begins in Spain, passing through the mountainous landscapes of Avila and Salamanca before crossing the border. After finishing in Faro, the return to Spain takes you through historic Cáceres and the spectacular Sierra de Gredos mountain range, close to the border with Spain.

It is an opportunity to savour the authenticity of a country, discover its cultural richness and create indelible memories. This adventure is designed for those who are looking for more than just a tour: an experience of life on two wheels.

Regardless of your riding experience, our journeys are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for every rider. The routes are planned so that any pilot can confidently take part and fully enjoy the adventure.

On full riding days, we typically cover an average of 250 to 350 kilometers per day.

The routes are thoughtfully designed to include scenic photo stops, gastronomic experiences, and rest breaks. This way, you can enjoy not only the ride itself but also the destinations we explore — with enough time to relax and recharge.

You can expect approximately 4 to 6 hours of riding per day, striking the perfect balance between adventure, comfort, and enjoyment.

The dress code is informal. At our facilities, we offer rental equipment including helmets, jackets, and gloves. If you already have your own gear, simply bring your helmet and riding equipment. Depending on the itinerary and weather conditions, rain gear may also be necessary.

Before the tour begins, you will receive our specific travel guide, which includes detailed and useful information about the trip, along with clear recommendations on what clothing and equipment to bring.

For all our trips and events, both the rider and passenger must wear, at a minimum, the protective gear required by traffic regulations (DGT). However, for greater comfort and safety, we strongly recommend using appropriate motorcycle protective clothing.

If rain is expected, we also recommend bringing waterproof clothing and a second pair of gloves to ensure a more comfortable riding experience.

Yes, wearing a helmet is mandatory and, most importantly, it is a fundamental element for your safety.

Participants from non-EU countries are required to carry a valid passport.

For EU citizens, their national motorcycle driving license is valid in all EU member states, as well as in Turkey and Morocco.
For all other nationalities, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required.

For participants from non-EU countries, the International Driving Permit is mandatory. This document is typically issued by the Automobile Club or the relevant governmental authority in each country.

In all cases, both the passport and the driving license must be valid at the time of travel.

When booking international routes, it is essential to indicate your nationality, as certain countries may require specific entry visas depending on your citizenship.

If the tour takes place in Morocco, all participants must carry a passport valid for at least six months.

In addition, the passenger rate is always offered at a reduced price.

Motorcycle touring is even better when it’s shared.

For self-guided tours, there is no strict minimum or maximum number of motorcycles. However, we recommend groups of 1 to 10 motorcycles to ensure smooth coordination and an optimal riding experience.

All our hotels are carefully selected by the Mediterranean Routes team after personally visiting their facilities and ensuring the highest standards of service and quality.

Most of the hotels provide private covered parking. In cases where covered parking is not available, they offer a designated and supervised parking area for our vehicles or are located in low-risk areas where parking is safe and secure.

Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather.

In the event of extreme adverse weather conditions, the tour leader(s) will assess the situation and may decide to cancel the route for that day in order to preserve the overall quality and safety of the remainder of the tour as much as possible.

The amount will depend on the specific route and its duration. In some tours, both breakfast and dinner are included, while in others only breakfast is provided.

There’s no need to worry — a few days before departure, our team will provide you with guidance on the approximate amount of money you may need for expenses such as meals and fuel during the route.

Yes, absolutely.

We offer a van service that can be arranged for companions during the tours. On organized tours, this vehicle also operates as a support and storage vehicle, assisting the group throughout the journey to ensure comfort and convenience for everyone involved.
